The program offers hands-on training on light duty diesel engines and on how to create biodiesel.

The automotive servicing field has changed drastically in the past 10 years. To work on newer vehicles you not only have to understand the basics, you must also understand computer diagnosis. At one time, a mechanic was someone who just repaired vehicles with tools. Today, a technician has to be able to repair vehicles with tools as well as with electronic equipment. At Wake Technical Community College in Raleigh, North Carolina, workshops on biofuels technologies are offered each semester.

The Automotive Systems Technology program covers all of the automotive systems to prepare students for a successful career. It starts with the basics and progressively moves to more advanced technology. An automotive background is not necessary to qualify for this curriculum. Upon completion of this program, students should be prepared to take the ASE exam? and be ready for full-time employment in dealerships and repair shops.
