Founded in 1999, the mission of the Triangle Clean Cities Coalition (TCCC) is to accelerate the use of alternative fuels and advanced transportation technologies to improve air quality? and energy security?.

TCCC builds public-private partnerships to promote the use of alternative fuels, alternative fuel vehicles, hybrid vehicles, idle reduction technologies, and fuel economy practices.

By bringing together fleet managers, local and state government officials, fuel and vehicle providers, and interested citizen groups, the Triangle Clean Cities Coalition is helping to move North Carolina toward a more sustainable future.

The Coalition is led by a steering committee made up of individuals from public and private entities such as utility companies, government agencies, advocacy groups, and alternative fuel-related businesses. Each year the committee elects a five-member executive committee made up of a chair, vice chair, and chairs of the TCCC's three working groups: Education and Communications, Fleets and Infrastructure, and Public Affairs and Incentives.

The Triangle J Council of Governments serves as the institutional home for the Triangle Clean Cities Coalition.
