North Carolina's Northeast Economic Development Foundation, Inc. is a subsidiary of North Carolina's Northeast Commission, a regional economic development organization created by the North Carolina General Assembly.
In 2009, the Northeast Economic Development Foundation received grant funding from the North Carolina Green Business Fund for green building technology at a pilot-scale botanical extraction facility for the development of biotech crops and biofuels. The foundation will build a LEED-certified business incubator facility for plant biotechnology businesses in northeastern North Carolina.
