NREL, or the National Renewable Energy Laboratory is the US governmental agency that is responsible for the government's alternative fuel research. NREL also works to develop cost-effective, environmentally friendly biomass conversion technologies to reduce America's dependence on foreign oil, improve air quality, and support rural economies.
