Senior Itaconix staff delivered two papers at the Next Generation Bio-Based Chemicals Summit 2010.
John Shaw, the Managing Director of Itaconix, is delivering a presentation on the Promise of Itaconic Acid in Session IV on Bio-Based Products, Applications and Scaling Hurdles. The presentation deals with the potential of replacing petroleum-based polymers with polymers of itaconic acid?. Itaconix uses proprietary technologies to polymerize of itaconic acid to develop two products, namely Itaconix Dispersant™ and Itaconix Superabsorbent™ for commercial use. In the session titled: Challenges of Downstream Processing and Chemical Conversion of Fermentation Products, Dr. Yvon Durant, Research & Development Director, is presenting on From Wood Chips to Polyitaconic Acid. The presentation grapples with how improvements in production costs are required for petroleum-based polymers to be replaced with polyitaconic acids?. Strategies addressing the challenge range from lower feedstock costs to integrating production, as well as additional ways to reduce overall product costs.
