Gaston County Schools

Gaston County Schools has built a biodiesel production facility that converts used cooking oil to biodiesel. This biodiesel is blended into the fuel used to operate their schoolbuses.

The biodiesel program has been successfully run for the past several years.

The Gaston County Board of Education is in the process of building a new high school to accommodate overcrowding at East Gaston, South Point and Forestview High Schools. Construction of the new school is moving along on schedule and the school will open in August 2013.
