Ethanol Blends

A blend of bioethanol and petroleum fuel. Commonly seen blends would include ethanol/petroleum mixes from 10% (e10 - found at the majority of fueling stations) to 85% ethanol/15% petroleum fuel (also called e85).

Currently, four states have ethanol blending mandates in place - Montana, Missouri, Florida and Minnesota.1234

Registered blenders of ethanol with petroleum fuel are eligible for a $0.45 per gallon tax incentive, also known as the Volumetric Ethanol Excise Tax Credit (VEETC). Under current law, this tax incentive will expire December 31, 2011.5
