Choke point

A chokepoint, or choke point, is defined as narrow water passageway between two bodies of land. Chokepoints are of political and strategic significance to the import and export of petroleum fuel.

The Suez Canal is an example of a chokepoint that could affect oil supplies, as approximately 4.5 million barrels of oil are carried through it every day.
