Chemtex International Inc
Chemtex is a global engineering, procurement and construction company that specializes in delivering technology-oriented projects for the petrochemical, polymers, fibers, energy, biofuels, and environmental industries. Chemtex was established in 1958 from the former Rayon Consultants. In 2004, Chemtex was acquired by Gruppo Mossi and Ghisolfi? or as it is also known, the M&G Group?. Originally based in New York, the company today has operations in Wilmington, NC in the USA; Tortona and Rivalta in Italy; Mumbai, Bangalore and Baroda in India; and Shanghai and Beijing in China. Chemtex is a leading provider of ethanol plants, for both the beverage and the fuel markets. References include a 150,000 tons per year ethanol plant in China in 2007 and multiple US based ethanol projects. Chemtex is actively involved in the bioethanol industry offering packages including know how, basic and detail engineering, equipment and field services for start up and commissioning. Chemtex, working with Petron Scientech?, offers project solutions for converting bioethanol to ethylene/ethylene oxide (EO)/mono-ethylene glycol (MEG).
For ethanol producers, this technology provides an added value platform for diversification into downstream “green” chemicals for which there is a growing demand. Chemtex also offers biodiesel technology based on multi-feedstocks, including soybeans, rapeseed, palm oil, jatropha and other crude oils and used fryer grease, to produce ASTM D6751 and EN14214 compliant product including the technology to refine glycerin to a pharmaceutical grade. The technology offered has low energy consumption, high yields and no requirement for wastewater treatment.
