Also see Rapeseed. Canola is a winter annual crop that can be grown in North Carolina to produce high oil-content seed. The oil in this seed is suitable for biodiesel or food-grade vegetable oil. The meal is suitable for dairy rations and egg-laying poultry rations. Canola is planted between mid-September and mid-October and harvested in June.
