Bio-oil
Solid biomass can be converted into a carbon-rich liquid which can be used to produce chemicals and fuels. This liquid, or bio-oil, is produced through a process called pyrolysis, in which the biomass is broken down into liquid in an oxygen-free, high-temperature environment.
