Bio-Solutions Manufacturing, Inc. and Hammerhead Engineering LLC are partnering with Wake Forest University? to validate a technology that will pre-treat liquid brown grease into a reduced free fatty acid? or FFA? feedstock.

Bio Solutions Manufacturing is planning on building and operate a biodiesel fuel production facility to convert the FFA feedstock into B100 biodiesel in Winston-Salem, NC. The company anticipates the facility should be able to produce 6,000 gallons of B100 biodiesel a day, if sufficient feedstocks are available.

Hammerhead Engineering and Environmental Services LLC will deliver a completed pretreatment process and engineering design for the proposed manufacturing facility. The pre-treatment process will allow the municipal waste water treatment industry to dispose both brown and black grease by converting it into B100 biodiesel.

By converting the waste grease, it will reduce the volumes requiring incineration or land disposal, which is more environmentally friendly. The waste will also provide a source for renewable energy and reduce fuel costs of municipal agencies.
